The page locking while loading is not normal. Why would that be normal? Is this malware?

TheBlackZword responds:

No, it is not malware. Google Chrome has some performance problems working with the compiler I used. However, the page unlocks after a few seconds and you can continue to use the rest of the browser while you wait for the page to unlock. I never once have had the browser crash.

This is a scheme to collect emails! WTF?

Verzinsky responds:

Not really...

I thought the writing was bullshit. I would have liked to see it written to be less lame.

Emptygoddess responds:

You make a valid complaint. Next time I'll try and write less lame.

Wow, it's like a run and gun that's also a musical and it addresses social issues and stuff! Amazing! Where did you get the idea for something so unique and interesting? I wish I could come up with stuff like this.

Pjorg responds:

I would say just do a lot of game jams. They're only 48 hours and the constraints can force you to do things you'd never do otherwise.

Really?

This would be better if you included some letting of the bodies hitting the flo'.

Or some targets that aren't radial gradients. That'd be cool.

You could even like, make the targets bodies. And then when you shoot them, they could do something that a target might do if it was shot by something. Like, (and this is just a 'for instance') hitting the flo'.

I mean, it's your game, do what you want. But I think it would be better loved by all if you at least included a flo', and perhaps some things (possibly bodies. possibly THE bodies) hitting it.

roxasreaper responds:

ok one your being an ass, two its called floor not flo, have some common desency, and third if i was better at drawing i would make the targets better but unfortunatly my strong point is coding not art, yes i could use an artist.

This has potential.

Here are my suggestions:
- Rework the controls. Going between using the mouse and using both hands on the keyboard is kind of a hassle. Maybe have pressing the space bar or something in front of doors to enter them, and to go through text boxes. Also the keys for fighting are a little weird to me. A, W, and C? They're kind of oddly spread out over the keyboard that way.
-The colors. Do something about the colors. They're all very bright, which is fine, but they clash. Bright blue, bright green, and bright red all kind of buzz when you have them near eachother. Do a search for "color theory" on your favorite seach engine and check it out. Or skip reading about the theory and just be sure to adjust the brightness and saturation of the colors you're using (HELPFUL HINT: Use Flash's color panel and switch it to HSB mode instead RGB to make this much easier) until they start to look really nice together. Good color choices can make any art look at least twice as good as it would otherwise, and it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

I like the story and the dialog, because they come off as unintentionally funny (which they may actually be) which is kind of more fun than intentionally goofy stuff sometimes. Disregard this paragraph for now, lest it interfere with what it's referring to. It works, so just go with it.

And that's all I got. Keep at it.

MitchellHache responds:

Thankz man and ya I know what you mean about the colors so ill look up that color theory!

Optimize!

It looks like this might be really good if it could run at a playable speed. But I'm running it on a quad-core machine at low quality and it's too choppy to play. Maybe try locking the scrolling during sets of enemies or something, or keep the sky image stationary or kill the parallax. But right now, the performance is too low to be enjoyable.

SeethingSwarm responds:

If it lags then your computer is too slow. My computer is 4 years old and it runs fine on it, and every other computer, even a 6 year old laptop, runs the game very smoothly. Believe me I've tested it. It can also be because you are running a lot of other stuff at the same time such as a music player like iTunes or another internet browser or another game or something. All of these things make the computer work so much harder and make everything run just a bit slower.

This game is extremely optimized for max performance, and you can also turn the quality to low from the pause menu. Sorry it didn't run very well on your computer, but it's not my fault. I did the best I could (and a damn good job) at optimizing this game for slower computers, and I've tested it out on many different systems, so there...

Haha, fun stuff

I like the division of different game genres for the generators. It actually makes it pretty useful for getting some random inspiration to work from. Nicely done for what it is, so I'm rating it high. Only thing that might make it better is some variety in the phrasing of the ideas, just to spice it up a little more. But yeah, it's a fun little device.

Also:
"You are a mysterious flash developer using a magic pipe on a quest to destroy a super armor set in another world. You will fight impolite goblins and cross exploding pits to reach your goal."

It's so true!

FreelanceFlashGames responds:

Haha thanks for the encouragement and the suggestions. Nice idea too :D

Neat game

But it takes way too long to reload. Even if you hit the reload button immediately after killing the last enemy in an area, you'll still take hits from the first enemy in the next area because you'll still be reloading. So if you can't do it between waves of enemies without getting hit, and you can't do it during a wave of enemies, there's no strategically advantageous time to do it.

And it's got stick people for the enemies. The 3d effects look really cool, but using stick people kind of detracts from it. It'd be awesome if it had at least some silhouettes of enemy gunmen.

Other than that though, it's a cool game.

KiAShadowwave responds:

Awsome, ill take that into consideration for the next one!

Here's a question to add...

Q: What does it say at the top of the submission page when you go to upload a flash movie?

A: " If this is a preview, trailer or demo of an unfinished project, please submit it to NG ALPHAS! Users often don't take kindly to unfinished work in the Portal. "

TheToon-1 responds:

I'd rather submit my demos,I haven't done enough with the Alphas,so shut the fuck up ass wipe.
